ITW David Speer Academy hasn't had much luck against Holy Trinity recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Pride will venture away from home to take on the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
ITW David Speer Academy will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Golder on Wednesday. The Pride were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Panthers. The Pride haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Holy Trinity got themselves on the board against Cristo Rey Jesuit on Friday, but Cristo Rey Jesuit never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cristeros with a sharp 27-0 win. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Elijah Mota made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mota was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Holy Trinity got a massive performance out of Noe Hernandez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Hernandez a new career-high in hits (two). Luke Glorioso was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Holy Trinity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Holy Trinity has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for ITW David Speer Academy, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
ITW David Speer Academy couldn't quite get it done against Holy Trinity when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 11-6. Can the Pride avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
