Game recap: Ensworth High School Football Team defeats Memphis University

MaxPreps NATIONAL TOP FOOTBALL TEAMS High School Football.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Ensworth (Nashville, Tenn.) snapped the 7-game winning streak of Memphis University (Memphis, Tenn.), with a 31-14 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, the Tigers led 17-14 at the half.

Ensworth expanded its lead to 10 points entering the fourth quarter. EHS scored once in the quarter on a Cornelius Elder touchdown run.



With the win the Nashville school extended its winning streak to 13 games. The Tigers defeated the Big Red 35-7 last week.

Ensworth's standout player in the win was Elder. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. A member of the Top 25 Athletes, Elder has now scored 38 touchdowns on the season.

Shane Tucker played well for the Owls. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 14 touchdowns on the season.

EHS had given up an average of 10.1 points prior to the contest. Memphis University's 14 points were well below its season average of 37.8 per game.

Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 28-14 win for the Tigers.

The defeat comes as a step back for Memphis University, which notched a 46-45 victory over Brentwood Academy in its previous outing.
