Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill and Burlington Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Lion will be playing at home against the Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Burlington Christian Academy will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Lion put the hurt on Neuse Christian Academy with a sharp 21-3 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lion considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Andrew Cavender was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Cavender was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill got a massive performance out of Eli Chappell, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Chappell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of N J Uhlenberg, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Burlington Christian Academy came tearing into Tuesday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Titans as they made off with an 11-3 win.
Davis Phillips was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mark Primm, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Burlington Christian Academy's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Burlington Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Burlington Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Lion repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
