Softball Recap: Byram Hills Bobcats vs. Eastchester Eagles
Byram Hills had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-4 to make it four. They lost 12-0 to the Eastchester Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 two weeks ago.
As for Eastchester, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.
For Eastchester's part, they got a great performance from Sarah Mascia as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Mascia has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Alyssa Peduto and Sophia Gutirrez did most of the damage at the plate: Peduto fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4, while Gutirrez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two home runs gave Peduto a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Recine, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Byram Hills will welcome Pelham Memorial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Eastchester, they will host Scarsdale at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
