Spring Grove triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Emerson Ingvalson

Recap: Spring Grove Lions vs. LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals

The Spring Grove Lions waltzed into their contest Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 70-51 victory over LeRoy-Ostrander. Spring Grove's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Emerson Ingvalson was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Kylie Hammel was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.

Despite the loss, LeRoy-Ostrander saw an underclassman step up: Miranda Nagel scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Nagel scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Benita Nolt, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.

Spring Grove's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for LeRoy-Ostrander, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Grove will be home for the holidays to greet Wabasha-Kellogg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wabasha-Kellogg is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. LeRoy-Ostrander will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rushford-Peterson at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
