Preview: Fleming Island Golden Eagles vs. Menendez Falcons
The Fleming Island Golden Eagles will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Menendez Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Fleming Island will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while Menendez is ranked 125th).
Fleming Island has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They strolled past Oakleaf with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 53-35.
London Jenkins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with seven steals and six assists. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Devyn Dudones was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Menendez's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against St. Augustine, falling 59-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Menendez has scored all season.
Fleming Island's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Menendez, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.
Fleming Island was able to grind out a solid victory over Menendez in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 54-42. Will Fleming Island repeat their success, or does Menendez have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
