Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Julia Blom and Camila Langenfeld Lead Lincoln to Victory

There's no place like home for Lincoln, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Mitchell Kernels on Tuesday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Kernels recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Lincoln had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-11, 25-11, 25-22.

Leading Lincoln to victory were Camila Langenfeld and Julia Blom. Langenfeld had 17 digs, 14 kills, and three aces, while Blom had 15 digs and two aces. Those 17 digs gave Langenfeld a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Lincoln was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Mitchell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Londyn Hajek had 12 digs and three assists. Another player making a difference was Kenna Soulek, who had six digs and four assists.

Lincoln's record now sits at 9-4. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lincoln will square off against Huron at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mitchell, they will face off against Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Kernels are facing the Rough Riders at the right time seeing as the Rough Riders are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
