Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Boardman's 16th in Last 18 Outings

It's playoff time, and Boardman had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Geneva Eagles a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Tori Strines made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Strines was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Boardman got a big performance out of Ava Freeborough, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Ward, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Boardman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Boardman is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Geneva, they dropped their record down to 10-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

As of now, neither Boardman nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
