Softball Game Preview: Polo Marcos vs. Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders

For the second straight game, Polo will face off against Ashton-Franklin Center. The Marcos will welcome the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Polo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Ashton-Franklin Center with a sharp 13-4 win on Tuesday. The Marcos haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Cheyenna (Chey) Wilkins and Camrynn (Cam) Jones made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Wilkins tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jones struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Wilkins went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Jones got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Jones has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izabella (Bella) Witkowski, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Leah Tobin was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Polo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ashton-Franklin Center is on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21. As for Polo, their win bumped their record up to 3-12.
