Baseball Recap: Queen's Grant Comes Up Short

Queen's Grant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-4 to the North Mecklenburg Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Stallions of the 18-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Harley Murrell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Asher Dugdale also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Queen's Grant's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for North Mecklenburg, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Queen's Grant will venture away from home to square off against Langtree Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Langtree Charter Academy will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Queen's Grant surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Mecklenburg, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge Hough at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give North Mecklenburg their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
