Warriors win fourth-straight title behind middle school signal caller.

Trent Seaborn became the first eighth-grader to ever start in the Alabama Class 7A state championship game Wednesday night, then went out and threw five touchdowns to lead Thompson (Alabaster) to its fourth straight title with a 49-24 win over Auburn.

Seaborn was 12 of 14 for 201 yards and five scores as the Warriors won their fourth postseason game in as many weeks. The young signal caller completed his first seven passes and after three possessions Thompson held a 21-0 lead.

On his first touchdown throw, Seaborn dropped back in the pocket near midfield and fired the ball high into the air before it landed in the hands of junior Kolby Hearn for a 47-yard touchdown to give the Warriors a 14-0 advantage.

Just before halftime he hit senior Korbyn Williams in stride for a 36-yard touchdown to send the Warriors into halftime with a 28-10 halftime lead.

Williams ended the night with six receptions for 142 yards and four touchdowns, including a 25-yard reception to give the Warriors a 49-10 lead late in the third quarter at Jordan-Hare Stadium on the campus of Auburn University. That play also ended Seaborn’s night, as he didn’t take a snap in the fourth quarter.

Seaborn finished his eighth-grade year with 1,181 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes. He completed 71.4 percent of his attempts. In four playoff games he completed 75 percent of his attempts for 657 yards and nine touchdowns.
