Softball Game Preview: Newton Eagles vs. Shelbyville Rams

The Newton Eagles will head out to square off against the Shelbyville Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Shelbyville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Newton will head out to face Shelbyville after giving up their first home loss of the season on Monday. The Eagles fell just short of Casey-Westfield by a score of 5-4. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against Meridian, falling 20-0.

Newton's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 20-2. As for Shelbyville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Newton took their win against Shelbyville in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 9-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
