Soccer Game Preview: Colleton County vs. Bluffton

Colleton County hasn't had much luck against Bluffton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Colleton County has given up an average of 4 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Colleton County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Bishop England on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Battling Bishops. While losing is never fun, Colleton County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Bishop England are ranked 22nd).

Meanwhile, Bluffton was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bobcats who were credited with the victory. Bluffton got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to May River's two. The game was the first time Bluffton have beaten May River on their pitch since April 18, 2022.

Bluffton's one-goal win came courtesy of EmmaKate McMahon, who's now up to four this season.

Colleton County's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Bluffton, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

Colleton County might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Bluffton when the teams last played back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
