Softball Game Preview: St. Edward Green Wave vs. Harvest Christian Academy Lions

St. Edward is a perfect 3-0 against Harvest Christian Academy since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Green Wave will head out to face off against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. St. Edward is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Bishop McNamara hit St. Edward with a five-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Green Wave lost 10-4 to the Fightin' Irish.

St. Edward saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Gurley, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Taylor Dawson was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harvest Christian Academy). They were the clear victors by a 35-13 margin over Hiawatha on Thursday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Mackenzie Richards, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Schier, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Harvest Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .714. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Harvest Christian Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-11. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.0 runs over those games. As for St. Edward, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

St. Edward beat Harvest Christian Academy 9-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Wave since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
