Basketball Game Preview: Hoover Patriots vs. Edison Tigers

Two dominant guards in Keon Hill and Dereon King are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hoover Patriots will challenge the Edison Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Edison took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hoover, who comes in off a win.

Hoover is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since December 11, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 victory over Fresno. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Hoover's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hill, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Cesar Juarez, who had 14 points.

Meanwhile, Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 95-45 defeat at the hands of San Joaquin Memorial. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 982nd, while the Panthers are ranked 46th).

Hoover's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Hoover was able to grind out a solid victory over Edison when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 67-54. Does Hoover have another victory up their sleeve, or will Edison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
