Baseball Recap: Socastee Takes a Loss

Socastee fell victim to North Myrtle Beach and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chiefs. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Braves were not able to get on the board.

Luke Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Socastee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jimmy Cocca, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Gavin Hartas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Socastee is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for North Myrtle Beach, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

While Socastee had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
