Basketball Recap: Kaplan Comes Up Short

If Kaplan was riding high fresh off their 50-10 takedown of Broadmoor last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kaplan Pirates received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 67-48 to the Hathaway Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Hornets are ranked 93rd).

Kaplan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Hathaway, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kaplan will head out to challenge Lake Arthur at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kaplan is facing Lake Arthur at the right time seeing as Lake Arthur is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hathaway, they will venture away from home to take on Lafayette at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Lafayette's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
