The Caston Comets will challenge the Marion Giants at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Caston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

Caston easily dispatched Bremen on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Comets fell just short of North Judson-San Pierre by a score of 9-7 on Thursday.

Hadlie Coffing made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Northfield hit Marion with a six-run third inning last Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Giants fell 11-6 to the Norsemen. The Giants have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marion saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zi'Onna Cole, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Jakira Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Marion's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Caston, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-5.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Caston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Marion struggles in that department as they've averaged .413. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Caston skirted past Marion 8-7 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Giants turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
