Volleyball Recap: Sacred Heart of Jesus Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Sacred Heart of Jesus had won five straight games and Isabella Valdez did her part to make it six on Tuesday. The Comets put the hurt on the St. Paul Swordsmen with a sharp 3-0 victory with plenty of help from Valdez, who had 37 assists and five digs. She has been hot recently, having posted 28 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-17, 25-12.

Sacred Heart of Jesus was led to victory by Riley Sylvester and Sophie Alvarado. Sylvester had six digs and five aces, while Alvarado had four aces. Those five aces gave Sylvester a new career-high. Emily Harb also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Sacred Heart of Jesus was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive contests.

Sacred Heart of Jesus' win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for St. Paul, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Sacred Heart of Jesus will be playing in front of their home fans against Elizabeth at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Paul, they will challenge El Rancho at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
