Volleyball Recap: Six Straight Road Victories for Central + How To Watch

Central won the last time they faced West Springfield and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Terriers 3-2.

Central wouldn't go down easily and took West Springfield into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 21-25, 20-25, 25-12, 16-14.

Leading Central to victory were Janelisse Garcia Esteves and Yarielis Cordero. Garcia Esteves had six aces, while Cordero had 12 digs and seven aces. Cordero has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last eight times she's played. Sitay Abdulahi also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Central was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in 14 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Central pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for West Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Central will take on East Longmeadow at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Springfield, they will face off against Easthampton/Hampshire at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
