Baseball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends the First Academy's Winning Streak

After flying high against Jupiter last Monday, The First Academy came back down to earth. The Royals fell just short of the Jesuit Tigers by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. The Royals were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four games prior), but the Tigers' pitchers proved too tough.

Kyle Hopper was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, The First Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Machado, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases. Another was Remo Indomenico, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

The First Academy moved to 14-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Jesuit, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

The First Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Osceola on the 28th. As for Jesuit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-1 defeat against Tampa Catholic on the 28th.
