Basketball Recap: Springville Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Springville came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 63-31 win over the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves. Given the Orioles' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Wolves are ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Springville's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points over those games. As for Winfield-Mt. Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.

Coming up, Springville will be playing at home against Highland on Friday. Springville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge. Winfield-Mt. Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
