East Providence had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 14-8 to make it five. They fell just short of the Cumberland Clippers by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Clippers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 back in April.

As for Cumberland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
On Cumberland's side, Andrew Nocera made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Nocera has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidan Ray, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Josh Lyon, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
