Baseball Game Preview: Steele Canyon Cougars vs. Santana Sultans

For the second straight game, Steele Canyon will face off against Santana. The Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Sultans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Steele Canyon is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Steele Canyon proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Santana 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since March 24th.

Andrew Bravo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Steele Canyon's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Rimoldi, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. Austin Hall was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Steele Canyon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Santana, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-12.
