Basketball Recap: Newman Grove/St. Edward Takes a Loss

Newman Grove/St. Edward played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Riverside Chargers, falling 68-37. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Newman Grove/St. Edward lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Anthony Reader, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Steensnes, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 10 points.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-9. As for Riverside, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers duke it out with the Cedar Bluffs Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Nebraska Christian at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Riverside has three straight victories, Nebraska Christian has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
