Basketball Recap: Noah Howard Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat La Junta

There's no place like home for Florence, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the La Junta Tigers by a score of 51-43 on Friday. The Huskies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Florence got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Howard out in front who went 5-for-10 to rack up 18 points. Howard has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaret Lozano, who posted 13 points and five assists.

Florence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Denahy, who earned ten points and six boards. That's the most points Denahy has posted since back in February of 2024. Tony Rodriguez was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Florence's record is now 8-12. As for La Junta, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Florence will challenge Fountain Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Junta, they will take on Pueblo Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Junta is facing Pueblo Centennial at the right time seeing as Pueblo Centennial is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
