Softball Recap: Dover-Eyota Extends Winning Streak to Five

Dover-Eyota had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Plainview-Elgin-Millville Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-1 on Saturday.

Aubrey Foster made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jaidyn Ihrke was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last three games. Miranda Palmby was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Dover-Eyota pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Plainview-Elgin-Millville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dover-Eyota will host Lourdes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Plainview-Elgin-Millville, they will be playing at home against Wabasha-Kellogg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
