Basketball Recap: Gvanni Byron's Big Game Can't Quite Lead College Prep & Leadership Academy over Bartlett Yancey + How To Watch

College Prep & Leadership Academy extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers. The Royals were up 30-15 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

College Prep & Leadership Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gvanni Byron, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 48.6% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Jefferson, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 10 points and six boards.

As for Bartlett Yancey, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1. The victory almost wasn't to be: they were down 30-15 in the second quarter.

Tyler Newcomb was nothing short of spectacular: he went 8-for-15 to rack up 22 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave him a new career-high. Trey Diggs was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.

College Prep & Leadership Academy has already played their next matchup, a 67-51 loss against Glenn on the 26th. As for Bartlett Yancey, they will welcome Cummings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
