Baseball Game Preview: New Trier Trevians vs. Deerfield Warriors

For the second straight game, New Trier will face off against Deerfield. The Trevians will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Trier has three straight victories, Deerfield has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, New Trier got the win against Deerfield by a conclusive 11-1. The Trevians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

New Trier got a great performance from Henrik Conniff as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Conniff posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four games.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben Toft, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Zach Perchik, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

New Trier hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive matchups.

New Trier's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Deerfield, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17.
