Volleyball Recap: Hannah Mcneece Key Part of Team Effort in Wildcats Win

Mt. Vernon played in-conference for the first time on Saturday and got just the result they were looking for. They won by a set and slipped past the South Spencer Rebels 3-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Mt. Vernon who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 15-25, 15-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Vernon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hannah McNeece, who had 38 digs. Those 38 digs gave McNeece a new career-high.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for South Spencer, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will square off against Evansville Reitz at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Spencer, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cannelton at 5:30 p.m. on September 9.
