Butler falls to Chardon in first game of season

Butler had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Chardon Hilltoppers by a score of 5-4 on Monday.

For Chardon's part, Jenna Hendricks tossed a big game, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (she also didn't allow any walks).

At the plate, Emma Anderson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Tarantino, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Butler will look to defend their home field on Thursday against South Allegheny at 11:15 a.m. Chardon will take on David Crockett at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. David Crockett's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Chardon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
