Harding Academy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 19-18 photo finish over the First Assembly Christian Crusaders. The score was all tied up 6-6 at the break, but the Lions were the better team in the second half.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Justin Barham and Jarren Jackson. Barham rushed for 123 yards and one score while picking up 7.7 yards per carry while Jackson rushed for 32 yards and one TD. Barham has become a key player for Harding Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 0-4 otherwise.

Harding Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dustyn Sanders and Darius Oliver.

Harding Academy's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4. As for First Assembly Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Harding Academy and First Assembly Christian will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Lions see the field they'll take on Jackson Christian at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for First Assembly Christian, their break will end when they face Cordova at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
