Softball Recap: Illiana Christian Triumphs

Illiana Christian won the last time they faced Griffith and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vikings walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Cayden Petersen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lydia VanderWoude was incredible, going 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Emmy Jansma was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Illiana Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Griffith, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

Coming up, Illiana Christian will take on Hanover Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Griffith, they will face off against Hobart at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
