Basketball Recap: Addison Schmidt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rice Lake over Eau Claire Memorial

Rice Lake has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. The matchup between them and the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes didn't end well, with the Rice Lake Warriors falling 59-43. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addison Schmidt, who posted ten points and eight boards. Schmidt is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Schommer, who put up five points.

Rice Lake's loss dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Eau Claire Memorial, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-2.

Rice Lake and Eau Claire Memorial should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Rice Lake will square off against Mosinee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday up 59 places (29 vs. 88). Rice Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season. Similarly, Eau Claire Memorial (ranked 23rd) will meet Eau Claire North (ranked 134th) at 6:00 p.m. on February 21st.
