Volleyball Recap: Saraland Falls Short Against Ranked Montgomery Academy

Saraland faced Montgomery Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Spartans fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2022.

Saraland came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 26-24, 15-13.

Charli Pearce paced Saraland's offense, picking up 11 kills. Pearce really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 14. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Saraland's defeat dropped their record down to 29-6. As for Montgomery Academy, they pushed their record up to 36-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Saraland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Vestavia Hills on the 11th. As for Montgomery Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against UMS-Wright Prep on the 11th.
