Baseball Recap: Pensacola Christian Academy Starts Season with Win at Home

Pensacola Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They put the hurt on the Laurel Hill Hoboes with a sharp 9-1 victory. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Hoboes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Micah Gettle was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Tradley Thompson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Pensacola Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .773. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurel Hill only posted an OBP of .273.

Pensacola Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rocky Bayou Christian at 6:30 p.m. on February 18th. As for Laurel Hill, they will square off against Florala at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
