Recap: Mitchell Marauders vs. Sierra Stallions
This season hasn't been kind to the Mitchell Marauders, who are still winless after their 15th contest. They received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 40-25 to Sierra. Mitchell has struggled against Sierra recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Shetara Roebuck was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight steals and five rebounds for Sierra. That makes it three consecutive games in which Roebuck has scored at least a third of Sierra's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nalia Calhoun-Pope, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Mitchell's loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.3 points per game. As for Sierra, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11.
Mitchell will take on DSST: Green Valley Ranch on Monday. As for Sierra, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Harrison at 11:30 a.m. Harrison has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6.
