Basketball Recap: Franklin Community's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Franklin Community had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 66-55 victory over the Whiteland Warriors on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-42 back in November of 2024.

Franklin Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Izzy Stillabower out in front who went 6 of 10 en route to 23 points. Those 23 points gave Stillabower a new career-high. Aleah Singleton was another key player, going 7 for 14 on her way to 19 points and three steals.

Franklin Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Whiteland still got an impressive performance from Sam Roadruck, who posted 19 points and four steals. Roadruck has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Dyer, who went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points.

Franklin Community's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14. As for Whiteland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Franklin Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-32 win against Martinsville on the 28th. Whiteland has also already played their next game, a 36-31 victory against Perry Meridian on the 28th.
