The Portsmouth Trojans will square off against the Northwest Mohawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Portsmouth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Portsmouth took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Wheelersburg 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since May 6th.

Leelind Scurlock looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Portsmouth saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevin Brooks, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Portsmouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Northwest suffered their closest defeat since April 21st on Friday. They fell just short of Piketon by a score of 5-3. The Mohawks haven't had much luck with the Redstreaks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Portsmouth's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Portsmouth took their victory against Northwest in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-0 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mohawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
