Basketball Recap: Green Valley Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After a string of five wins, Green Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of The Meadows School Mustangs by a score of 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Gators have suffered since November 28, 2023.

Despite the loss, Green Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lamarcus Carter went 5 for 11 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Jorden Smith was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Green Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

The Meadows School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Uzo Nwapa out in front who went 7 of 14 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Moses, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points along with eight assists and six boards.

Green Valley's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for The Meadows School, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Green Valley has already played their next contest, a 59-39 win against Sunrise Mountain on the 22nd. As for The Meadows School, they will face off against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Meadows School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.6 points per game this season.
