Basketball Game Preview: Texas Tigers vs. Jacksonville Fightin' Indians

The Texas Tigers will take on the Jacksonville Fightin' Indians in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jacksonville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Texas, who comes in off a win.

Texas will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 30 points on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Marshall on Friday. Texas narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Marshall 59-57. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville came up short against Hallsville on Friday and fell 51-41. While losing is never fun, the Fightin' Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 802nd, while the Bobcats are ranked 204th).

Texas now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Jacksonville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Texas was dealt a bruising 82-47 loss at the hands of Jacksonville when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Texas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
