Preview: Live Oak Acorns vs. Ann Sobrato Bulldogs
Live Oak has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Live Oak focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Live Oak pushed their score all the way to 61, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Hill at home by a decisive 78-61 margin. Live Oak has struggled against Hill recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Live Oak saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Austin Jennings, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Jennings hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Raymond Ramirez, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Ann Sobrato unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Silver Creek.
Live Oak has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Ann Sobrato, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Live Oak came up short against Ann Sobrato when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 57-46. Can Live Oak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
