Softball Recap: Easley Green Wave vs. Greenwood Eagles

Easley proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Greenwood Eagles 3-2. For the Green Wave, this counts as revenge for the 6-1 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jalyn McGee made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Olivia Merck was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Payton Todd also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Easley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Greenwood, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9.
