Volleyball Recap: West Caldwell Tech Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Mathew Asitimbay and John Jimenez

West Caldwell Tech was the 2-0 winner over Bloomfield when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Bengals by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, West Caldwell Tech sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 22-25, 25-19.

John Jimenez and Mathew Asitimbay certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Jimenez had 20 digs and one assist, while Asitimbay had eight digs and two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Caldwell Tech fell to 4-1. As for Bloomfield, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, West Caldwell Tech will take on Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Red Devil at the right time seeing as the Red Devil are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bloomfield, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Hunterdon Central on the 12th.
