Newport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-15 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tillamook Cheesemakers. Even if the Cubs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Ivy Ruddiman and Izzie Stark did some serious damage despite the final result: Ruddiman scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Stark scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that Ruddiman scored this season. Another player making a difference was Ashtyn Black, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Newport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
