Softball Preview: Midland Rebels vs. LaGrange Gators
The Midland Rebels will head out to square off against the LaGrange Gators at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Midland knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully LaGrange likes a good challenge.
On Wednesday, Midland came up short against Abbeville and fell 13-10. The Rebels have struggled against the Fighting Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Abigail Myers and Sage Cormier did some serious damage despite the final result: Myers got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Cormier got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Borill, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
LaGrange couldn't beat Westminster Christian Academy on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Gators came up short against the Chargers, falling 20-10.
Midland's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for LaGrange, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Midland got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against LaGrange by a conclusive 27-10 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
