Basketball Game Preview: Screven County Gamecocks vs. Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs

The Screven County Gamecocks will take on the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Screven County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Emanuel County Institute likes a good challenge.

Screven County will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Savannah, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Gamecocks came out on top against the Bluejackets by a score of 84-73 on Tuesday. The Gamecocks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

LeVez Roper had another great game (as he tends to do), going 10-for-21 to rack up 33 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The contest was his tenth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Rodney Beckwith, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards.

Emanuel County Institute had taken Claxton down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Bulldogs lost 68-43 to the Tigers.

Screven County's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Emanuel County Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything came up roses for Screven County against Emanuel County Institute in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 69-42 win. Do the Gamecocks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
