Soccer Game Preview: Foothill vs. West

The Foothill Trojans will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the West Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Foothill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

Foothill is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Saturday, they were much more limited against Mira Monte on Wednesday. They lost 4-1 to the Lions. It was the first time this season that the Trojans let down their fans at home.

Their goal came courtesy of Alexander Machuca Diaz, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, West didn't have quite enough to beat South on Wednesday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 983rd, while the Spartans are ranked 448th).

Foothill's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5-1. As for West, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9-1.

Everything went Foothill's way against West in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as Foothill made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Foothill since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
