Softball Recap: Lehigh Takes a Loss

Lehigh came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Gateway Charter Griffins, falling 15-3. The Lightning were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Griffins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2020.

Lehigh saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yasmin Silva, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Haylee Marquis was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Lehigh has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. The win got Gateway Charter back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lehigh will head out to challenge Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gateway Charter, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Cape Coral at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
