After a string of five wins, Marian's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost to the Renaissance Phoenix on the road by a 50-34 margin. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Phoenix are ranked 21st).

Marian's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Renaissance, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-3.

Marian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Renaissance, they will face off against Wayne Memorial on Wednesday. Wayne Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Renaissance likes a good challenge.
